Caitlin Clark’s strong Stephanie White comments resurface amid WNBA season

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) talks with head coach Stephanie White

Caitlin Clark has played in 14 out of the Indiana Fever’s 15 games this season. That’s already one more than the total number of games she played in 2025. Clark’s second season was marred by injuries, limiting her to just 13 games throughout the campaign.

This year, fans have gotten a good look at how successful Clark can be under head coach Stephanie White. Last season, in White’s debut campaign for Indiana, the former WNBA Coach of the Year was barely able to utilize Clark. Things have been much different this season, though, with the two-time All-Star now back at full strength.

Currently, Clark is averaging a career-high 20.8 points on 40.7% shooting, to go along with 4.4 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 2.5 triples per game. There’s no denying that White has played a key role in Clark’s strong run.

Caitlin Clark had some high praise for Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White

Much like Clark, White is also a very passionate individual. This is why it comes as no surprise that these two have clashed heads on a couple of occasions.

Most recently, the two went viral over a heated sideline exchange during a blowout game. While detractors were quick to push a narrative of discord between Clark and White, both downplayed the intense moment.

Clark’s comments about her coach have now resurfaced at an opportune time. The 24-year-old sat down with ESPN’s Malika Andrews ahead of the season, and Clark had some very telling statements about White.

The interview is currently making the rounds on social media after Andrews reposted the video on her YouTube channel on Friday.

“I think I’m easy to coach, and Steph would say the same thing,” said the Fever superstar. “I think at times it may be difficult, too. Because I don’t think there’s many people that get guarded the way I do. So I think you have to get creative scheme-wise.”

Clark touched on White’s aggressive mindset, which the Fever guard admires simply because they are so much alike.

“But I don’t think there’s a better person to do that than Coach Steph,” Clark continued. “I love Coach Steph. And I think what I love about her the most is her competitive fire is the same exact as mine. We’ll go at it, but at the end of the day, we love each other so much, and that’s what makes it fun.

“There’s nobody else you’d want to go to war with if they’re not going to be like that.”

These comments speak volumes about Clark and White’s relationship. It isn’t perfect in the sense that their equally competitive nature sometimes gets in the way.

At the same time, however, Clark is adamant that this same aspect strengthens their bond and enables them to succeed on the court.
