Caleb Williams gets honest on Bears training camp after ‘drowning’ last year
Caleb Williams’ 2025 NFL season was nothing short of spectacular. He led the Chicago Bears to their best record since 2018. They finished with an 11-6 record en route to winning the NFC North title.
Chicago qualified for the postseason for the first time since the 2020 season. The Bears defeated their longtime rivals, the Green Bay Packers, in the Wild Card Round. Unfortunately, their Super Bowl hopes were cut short as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the next round.
As for the Bears’ quarterback, he broke the franchise record for most passing yards in a single season with 3,942. Williams also scored 27 passing touchdowns with only 24 sacks, down from 68 in his rookie year.

Caleb Williams shares his thoughts on Chicago Bears training camp
Individually, Williams had a good first year, breaking franchise records, including the most passing yards in a single season by a rookie. However, it wasn’t enough as a team as they only finished with a 5-12 record.
Which is why the training camp heading into his second year must’ve put a lot of pressure on the young quarterback.
Williams then spoke about the big difference between this year’s training camp and last year’s.
“Hell of a lot more fun for me than it was last year.” Williams said.
The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner also shared what he felt during last year’s training camp.
“I felt like I was drowning,” he said. “Trying to breathe or stay alive and wait for a boat to come around.”
Williams discussed the difference this year and how they are approaching the training camp.
“This year, it’s being able to start where we finished last year,” said the Bears QB. “Play calls and words and verbiage, and speak the same language.
“And now it’s being able to grow more from an earlier stage than maybe doing it a little bit earlier in the season or halfway through the season.”
Training camp for the Bears is expected to start in late July. Chicago will have a target on its back this year, but Williams and Co. won’t come unprepared.
