Chicago Bears fans react to unexpected NFC North development
Ryan Pace served as the Chicago Bears’ general manager from 2015 to 2021. During his tenure, the team recorded a 48-65 record with two playoff appearances that both ended in the Wild Card Round. He also executed some big draft moves and selections that drew a lot of attention to the franchise.
At 37 years old, Pace became the youngest NFL general manager at the time of his hiring. However, the organization fired him and former head coach Matt Nagy on Jan. 10, 2022. Chicago’s lack of success primarily caused this, especially after the Bears’ 6-11 campaign in 2021.
Pace may have won the NFL Executive of the Year award in 2018, but fans mostly view his legacy in Chicago negatively. His stint left a bitter taste among them due to quarterback misses and roster depletion.

On Tuesday, reports emerged about Pace returning to the NFC North. He is reportedly set to join the Minnesota Vikings as a football adviser.
Bears fans immediately gravitated toward the news, making their feelings about the unexpected development very clear.

The Vikings are coming off a 9-8 season and missed the playoffs. They need to make some adjustments this offseason, including in the quarterback room. It remains to be seen what impact Pace will bring, but Chicago fans will cheer loudly for the Bears when they take on Minnesota in Week 2. The teams will meet again in Week 18 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
