Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark admitted that she feels bad about not watching the FIFA World Cup Final in person.

Despite a strong current season with Indiana, Clark has recently revealed something that she regrets not being able to watch the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at the New York-New Jersey Stadium on Saturday.

In her pre-game media availability during their regular season game against the New York Liberty on Saturday, the Indiana guard was asked about the highly anticipated event.

Clark said that she was contemplating making the trip, since it only happens every four years. USA hosted the event for the first time since 1994. She also revealed that she’s a big Lionel Messi fan. However, due to a tight schedule, she won’t be able to make it.

“Yeah, I was thinking about going, but obviously it’s tough with the back-to-back,” Clark said. “I’m cheering for Argentina. I want Messi, so I’ll be cheering hard.”

The Fever were also in action on Friday, securing a win against the Seattle Storm.

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark says watching the FIFA World Cup Final live is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

During the same interview, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft doubled down on the idea that seeing a World Cup final is a one-of-a-kind experience for anyone.

Even though she has the means to watch Argentina defend their title against Spain, Clark admits there are other things she needs to prioritize.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she emphasized. “But then some other things got in the way. But I’ll definitely be cheering. I’m excited.”

Later that night, Clark helped the Fever clinch a victory over New York, 108-88. She logged 17 points, seven assists and two rebounds to secure the team’s 16th win of the season.

They now look to extend their win streak to three games. They will face the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday in front of their home fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
