Concerning injury news emerges from Bears’ Sunday practice
The Chicago Bears returned to practice on Sunday, one day after opening their preseason schedule. They defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-10 despite mostly sitting their starters. However, the team suffered another setback during the practice session, and some concerning news emerged.
Chicago is dealing with injuries to its key players, including Coby Bryant, who will be sidelined for the next four to six months. The franchise will rely on rookie Dillon Thieneman and recent signing, Xavier Woods, to fill the hole at safety.
The Bears will begin their regular season on Sept. 13, and staying healthy is of utmost importance. They are aiming to have a deeper postseason run and surpass last year’s success.

Bears RB Kyle Monangai suffers injury
Kyle Monangai left practice early after he apparently sustained a knee injury. He got entangled with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and reportedly needed help to get off the field. The good news is that they did not cart him off and that he is “fine.”
“Bears RB Kyle Monangai, who left practice today after injuring his knee, is believed to be “fine”, per source. Initial tests showed his knee to be structurally sound, but the team will do an MRI to confirm,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on X.

Chicago selected Monangai in the seventh round at No. 233 in 2025. He appeared in 17 regular-season games, including one start. The 24-year-old recorded 169 rushing attempts for 783 yards and five touchdowns. He added 18 receptions for 164 yards,
It remains to be seen how serious his injury is, but the Bears will likely provide an update in the coming days. Analysts expect Monangai to have a bigger role in the upcoming season following his solid rookie year. D’Andre Swift will face more pressure should Monangai miss time, with Roschon Johnson as the other option. The team will return to action on Saturday for its second preseason game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
