WNBA reacts to Angel Reese’s historic night
Angel Reese delivered a performance that immediately entered WNBA history, setting two rebounding records while helping the Atlanta Dream complete a perfect West Coast road trip. Her dominant night against the Los Angeles Sparks further highlighted the impact she has made during her first season with Atlanta and gave the Dream another reason for optimism heading into the playoffs.
Reese grabbed 26 rebounds in Atlanta’s 78-71 victory Monday, breaking the previous single-game league record of 24 set by Chamique Holdsclaw in 2003. The performance also pushed her season total to 458 rebounds, surpassing A’ja Wilson’s previous WNBA record of 451 set in 2024.
The historic effort came despite an inconsistent shooting night, as Reese finished with 11 points while going 4 of 14 from the field. She made her impact elsewhere, adding three assists and three steals while recording her 27th double-double of the season, extending her league-leading total.
The rebounding display helped Atlanta overcome a competitive Los Angeles team and finish its four-game road trip undefeated. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 20 points, Rhyne Howard scored 18 and Naz Hillmon added 12 as Atlanta improved to 25-13 with six regular-season games remaining.
