Some good news and bad news on today’s Jets injury report with their home opener against the Packers just a few days away and questions regarding player availability across the board.

There was an important addition in defensive end Will McDonald, who led the Jets with five pressures and a sack against the Tennessee Titans last week.  If he can’t go because of a balky ankle, it would be a huge blow to Aaron Glenn’s defense.  The good news however, also comes on the defensive side of the ball as rookie cornerback DeAngelo Ponds was limited but did practice.

Ponds has been dinged up for several weeks and had to sit out last week’s season opener but could see some action this week which will come in handy against the Jordan Love and the Packers.

There were four players who didn’t practice at all with no real surprises.  WR Omar Cooper Jr. (ankle), S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), DE Joseph Ossai (ankle), and kick returner Kene Nwangwu (back) were all held out.

This is nothing new for Nwangwu who tends to miss a handful of games every season and this could be his second in as many weeks.  Ossai has also been on the shelf since the start of training camp before appearing in a single preseason game and injuring himself again.  This time it was a complete tear of his fascia.  The Jets called him week-to-week at the time of the tear but he is yet to practice since the injury which is now several weeks ago.

Linebacker Jamien Sherwood and cornerback Jarvis Brownlee were also listed as limited and full respectively.
