Angel Reese announces unfortunate news before WNBA Finals
It has been a historic year for Angel Reese. She broke several league records this season and also made history off the court. However, the Atlanta Dream star announced an unfortunate news ahead of the WNBA Finals.
She and her team advanced to the championship series undefeated in the first two rounds. They swept the Washington Mystics and New York Liberty, showing their dominance on both ends of the floor. Reese has been a huge for the franchise throughout the season with her rebounding and defensive prowess.
The 24-year-old set new marks this year for most rebounds in game and in a season. She also broke the WNBA record for most double-doubles in a single campaign. Reese earned her third straight All-Star selection and was named to Team USA’s lineup for the FIBA Women’s World Cup.
Angel Reese posts personal update on Instagram
Reese announced on her Instagram story on Thursday that won’t walk the runway of Victoria’ Secret this year. She became the first women’s basketball player to model at the brand’s annual fashion show in October 2025.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be walking this year, but I’m forever grateful that I got to lie out this dream and earn my very own ANGEL WINGS! I’ll cherish forever. Once an ANGEL, always an ANGEL,” Reese wrote along with holding back tears, wings and sparkles emojis.
The WNBA Finals will begin on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2026 will be held on Sunday at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. The schedule conflict won’t allow Reese to walk the runway, but she likely doesn’t mind as the Dream are in contention for a title.
She and the Dream will take on the Golden State Valkyries in the finals. The No. 2-seeded team is fresh off a sweep in the semifinals, dethroning the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. Atlanta faced Golden State thrice in the regular season, losing all three games.
