Chicago Bears: Top defensive trade target could be on the move sooner than expected
Week 8 is setting up to be a massive one across the league, with a marquee of great matchups occurring. One of the most intriguing will be this Monday’s game between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams are coming off big wins in Week 7.
The Seahawks made a splash in the trade market, acquiring offensive lineman Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts earlier today. Nelson will surely help Seattle’s low-end rushing attack, which has failed to get going in the first half of the season. The Bears will now have to game plan for one of the best left guards in football.
Sources say the Colts may not be done unloading talent, and the Bears could be the beneficiary of that as they’re reportedly interested in making some moves themselves. A big name they could have their eye on is d-tackle DeForest Buckner.

Bucker, 32, is one of the more solid defensive linemen in the league. Over his 11-year career, Buckner has tallied an impressive 75.5 sacks, including four of them coming this season. On film, it’s obvious that he still has some left in the tank. He could be a perfect fit for this Bears defense.
If GM Ryan Poles is truly interested, he may need to act soon.
Could the Chicago Bears trade for DeForest Buckner?

If the Bears do indeed have interest in Buckner, a trade for him will likely cost a few picks. Nelson was moved for a third and a fifth, and was arguably the Colts’ biggest trade piece outside of Jonathan Taylor. If Poles plays this correctly, a few day-three picks could suffice.
Buckner is a 3-technique tackle who could fit perfectly in Dennis Allen’s defense. His elite production as a pass rusher and interior run stopper is exactly what the Bears need. His veteran leadership and experience would also be a big selling point.

In what has been a lost season for the Colts, Buckner has been a constant positive.
The Bears defense has done an okay job of getting to the quarterback, but they need to be better. You could make the argument that a cornerback is a higher priority right now, especially with the poor play of Jaylon Johnson. But the added pressure to the passer could help the secondary.
Be on the lookout for the Bears to make a splash. It could happen closer to the November 10th deadline, but with Nelson being moved today, it could jump-start a domino effect of moves across the league.
