NFL Power Rankings – Jets Fall, Vikings At Top

Week Seven saw two undefeated teams fall. There is just one unbeaten team left: the Minnesota Vikings. The defending champs delivered a statement victory over the Chiefs, while the Jets suffered one of their worst losses in recent memory. Let’s take a look at our weekly NFL Power Rankings and see how the teams line up.

NFL Power Rankings 1. San Francisco 49ers 6-1 (Week Seven: 1)

San Francisco remains on top despite the loss. Cross-country trips for West Coast teams to play in the one o’clock time slot have been historically difficult. The 49ers were uncharacteristically sloppy with the football in Atlanta. A return to form is expected after the bye week.

2. Minnesota Vikings 6-0 (Week Seven: 3)

Minnesota remained unbeaten at 6-0 with a 16-10 victory over Indianapolis. The offensive limitations will continue to leave the Vikings open to an upset. The brain trust in Minnesota needs to find some explosive plays.

3. Buffalo Bills 5-1 (Week Seven: 4)

Buffalo is off a bye and will be home for Baltimore Sunday. The Bills are just a week away from a clash with the undefeated Vikings.

4. Kansas City Chiefs 5-1 (Week Seven: 2)

Kansas City fell 20-3 at Seattle, suffering their first loss of the year and rekindling questions about the offense.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars 4-2 (Week Seven: 5)

Jacksonville had a bye week to prepare for the rapidly unraveling Colts. This should be very manageable for the Jags, who go on the road for three straight games after this week.

6. Seattle Seahawks 4-3 (Week Seven: 8)

Seattle snapped a two-game skid with an emphatic 20-3 win over Kansas City. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 150 receiving yards and a touchdown, while the Seahawks defense kept the Chiefs out of the end zone. At 4-3, Seattle has a statement victory to build on after its frustrating overtime loss in Denver.

7. Denver Broncos 5-2 (Week Seven: 6)

Denver improved to 5-2 with a 30-16 win at Arizona, highlighted by Bo Nix’s 62-yard touchdown run. The Broncos will be hard to deal with if their offense can find a way to consistently put thirty points on the board.

8. New England Patriots 4-3 (Week Seven: 7)

New England’s three-game winning streak ended with a 30-24 loss at Chicago. The Pats were expecting better than 4-3 at this point, but injuries and a terrible start by their quarterback have them fighting for survival in the AFC.

9. Chicago Bears 5-2 (Week Seven: Unranked)

The Bears put up more than 400 yards of offense on the Patriots on Thursday night. That offense will be tested this week in Seattle.

10. Cincinnati Bengals 4-2 (Week Seven: Unranked)

The Bengals blistered the Ravens in the second half on Sunday, outscoring Baltimore 35-0. Cincinnati should take its record to 6-2 with two very winnable home games coming up against Tennessee and Atlanta.

29. New York Jets 2-5 (Week Seven: 26) Last Week: Dolphins 28, Jets 25

The Jets helped Miami score their first victory of the season, losing at home to the previously winless Dolphins. Miami had notched more than 20 points just once before Sunday at the Meadowlands. It is hard to overstate just how disappointing the loss is for the Jets. Miami came in with an anemic offense and a defense in the bottom ten in points allowed. None of that mattered, though, as the Dolphins drove 76, 60, and 91 yards to post three touchdowns in the first half of the game.

The Jets have been much more competitive this season than in their last two, but this loss is hard to take. Aaron Glenn is in trouble and could be let go at any time now and most certainly will be relieved of his post at the end of the season if things do not improve significantly.

Week 8 Matchup: Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets

Sunday, November 1, 2026 — 1:00 p.m. ET, MetLife Stadium.

The Raiders arrive at 3-4 after four straight losses, most recently a 35-21 defeat against the Rams. The Jets are 2-5 after a horrific loss to Miami.

This is a very winnable game for the Jets, but if you can lose at home to the Dolphins, you can certainly lose at home to the Raiders. The Raiders and Jets are on a similar path. Both teams are coming off multiple terrible seasons and finally appear to be moving in the right direction despite it not being visible in their win-loss records. The Raiders are developing their quarterback of the future while they have added a playmaker at running back and an All-Pro candidate at tight end, all working behind a rebuilt offensive line. Las Vegas has pushed its offense into the top half of the league, but its defense is lagging behind, currently ranking 30th in total defense.

The Jets are ninth in the league in total defense, but they suffer horrific collapses at times and did so last week in the first half against the woeful Dolphins. The Jets are clearly better on offense than last year’s punchless unit, but they are still ranked just 23rd overall. Injuries at key skill positions have been a factor for the Jets, who may finally be able to put their best eleven on the field this week.

The difference in this game should be the Jets ground game. New York should be able to take advantage of the league’s 30th-ranked run defense to move the chains and control the ball. The pass rush should get home and force Kirk Cousins and the Raiders to play behind the chains. Cousins will turn the ball over if pressured, and the Jets need to win the turnover battle. It should add up to a Jets win, but that same math did not work out last week.
