Drumpf Presidency-- The Hits Just Keep On Rolling In

The Donald has only been Prez for a few days and already reading my news feed just makes my jaw drop open. He’s undoing protections right and left for health and the environment and science and opening up pipeline deals and his administration is outright lying and re-labeling the lies and he’s being massively disrespectful to his wife in public…

About the only thing he’s done that I may be okay with is kill the Trans Pacific Partnership– another job killer like NAFTA.

I feel like we all stumbled into a nightmare. I haven’t been able to follow news with the same intensity this last two years due to my personal life, and now I wish I could stick my head into the ground and hide from it. I was thrilled to see all the Women’s Marches across the nation and in all the different countries, even women on a ship in Antarctica! That was cool. But it’s sad that it takes things getting this bad to galvanize people to get up and give a shit in any kind of real way!

Even my conservative news feeds are balking a little– struggling to explain the Dumpster might actually be a good thing… maybe… err…

I Unfriended an Xtian guy on Facebook for posting an anti-feminist cartoon that was far from funny. In essence, it said feminists were all fat, ugly girls with a ‘superhero’ complex that thought they were fighting evil, rich men, but were actually against families (with father, mother, kids). I couldn’t even begin to understand where a person would get that. I get the class stuff, and I get that a lot of privileged women lose sight of other issues, but that was too much for me to take. I was just disgusted that a man who has a daughter would dare to disparage women who want equality. I’ve always said that Sexism is the worst “ism” because if you are a sexist, you are an enemy to people in your own, personal life– your mother, sisters, daughters, aunts, grannies, grand-daughters, etc. If you can disparage people you LIVE WITH and think you’re better than they are, what chance do people who are different colors, orientations, classes, etc. have to sway you to decency?

Uh– that’s right. ZERO!

Its like so many men have to feel superior or else they just can’t deal with the world. No strong man could be intimidated by a strong woman, you know? I get that you can’t fix what’s wrong with sexual discrimination by allowing it to go the other way, but let’s face it, that’s not too much of an issue right now! 

And the world careening towards massive problems all coming to a head at the same time our resources are being squeezed to their limits is beyond intimidating to witness. I’m scared this president is going to lead us to another civil war. Shit is getting real far too fast for me to even digest, let alone react to adequately. I’m trying to think ahead, but I’m just… reeling in shock some days, and disgust the rest of the time.

I am hopeful that at least few people are ignoring this. We can’t afford to not pay very close attention to every single thing that this guy does. He at least has leagues of enemies who are attending to his every move. Something will break by spring to slow his streamrolling through idiotic “reforms”– if not, this summer I have a bad feeling things will go nuts.
