Shocking Video: Man Shoves Woman Down Manhole To Avoid Paying Debt Owed Her
A video caught a man, who owed money to his girlfriend, trying to kill her in a trap he set so he could shove her down a manhole, rather than paying her back.
A surveillance video showed the murder attempt in southern China, in the city of Haikou, Hainan province.
The video (below) shows the unidentified man setting the trap to kill his girlfriend by removing a manhole cover and replacing it with a piece of cardboard. Next, he’s seen walking with his girlfriend into the trap he’d set for her.
When she fell in, he aggressively pushed her deeper into the sewer drain and then, replaced the lid.
The woman, identified by her surname Guo, fought for her life for 60 grueling hours. She survived inside a three meter deep hole before finally saved.
Guo’s story is similar to that of 1 billion other women on the planet who’ve experienced gender violence. This abuse led to last week’s One Billion Rising campaign, calling on women and men to rise up and demand an end to violence against women.
An estimated one in three women will be beaten or raped in her lifetime – 1 billion women.
The man said that he was trying to escape the nearly $16,500 in debt he owed to her.
