The world is not being told the truth about the Louisiana flood in progress right now. The coverup is tragically as deadly as during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when similar desperate calls for help fell on deaf ears and aid was blocked. The following facts regarding the catastrophic August 2016 Louisiana flood demonstrate the gravity of the environmental and humanitarian crisis, including the chaos and needless suffering due to the ongoing government and media “run around,” as one Louisiana man called it Monday morning.

1. Thirteen deaths have been confirmed as the result of the Louisiana flood, yet an untold number of others remain unaccounted. After three days of stranded in attics and elsewhere without water or food, loved ones of victims still pleaded for their rescues. Officials stated on Aug. 17 that the death toll is unknown, it is expected to be fewer than after Hurricane Katrina, and it will be another two weeks before all houses are searched. Finding accurate information on displaced loved ones is as problematic for some people as during Hurricane Katrina aftermath. Such problems increased since the day the American Red Cross became an official partner with the notorious government agency FEMA.

3. Over 20,000 people were displaced with some 10,000 people staying in parish and Red Cross shelters and “even more” in private shelters, such as churches and makeshift places such as a theater, but the latter number remains unreported.
4. Over 3,650 Louisiana Guardsmen are participating in emergency flood response efforts, including: evacuations, search-and-rescue operations, sling-load missions, engineering missions, commodities distribution and security and shelter support, according to the Department of Defense.
5. Fresh floods remained possible well into the week after the deluge of rain because several rivers were still rising.
6. Almost one-half of the state of Louisiana parishes flooded since last week: 30 of its 64 parishes — including over 40,000 homes with flood damage. Some towns report up to 75% “total loss.”
7. Over 30 inches of rain fell between Aug. 11 and 13 in some parts of the state — more rain than Los Angeles has seen in 3+ Years.
8. More than six rivers set record highs, exceeding previous records by several feet in some cases, with some still threatening thousands more homes and people, and the Mississippi River levee breached in one place.
9. The federal government declared a major disaster in the state, first in the hardest hit four parishes: Tangipahoa, St. Helena, East Baton Rouge and Livingston.
10. Some 70 boats owned by good Samaritans volunteering them and their services were denied access to water Monday morning to rescue people stranded for days for three days, some with serous medical needs.
All that local Good Samaritan organizing to save people’s lives and this is what they encountered: government officials blocking them from taking their boats into the water.
11. Refinery accidents often happen during severe weather; flood waters causing the most damage, overflowing treatment tanks, sending oil and its toxic chemicals into nearby canals and neighborhoods. The worst, most deadly damage from Hurricane Katrina was from flooded oil refineries. Media has kept a tight lid on refinery incidents throughout this event to date. The petrochemical industry continues to lack transparency and accountability regarding emergency preparedness in a region tested time and again by catastrophic events. 12. This event was similar to an inland tropical depression in that moisture content in the atmosphere was higher than observed there during some tropical cyclones, according to the US Weather Service.

14. This event event is America’s latest 500-Year rainstorm that experts call a “classic signal of climate change”: extreme precipitation occurring more frequently as the planet warms scientists, yet still, search and rescue teams, equipment and provisions such as emergency telephone and wi-fi access for displaced persons are woefully inadequate, as Jeannie Bowers tries to resolve in her post (below) on the Louisiana Flood Lost and Found page. 15. Despite the U.S. military budget in 2015 of a total of $598.5 billion, 54% of the nation’s federal discretionary spending, it supplied only 150 high water vehicles to use in Louisiana as of Sunday night, along with 35 watercraft, resulting in rescues, such as for people in cars stalled in quickly rising waters, taking up to 30 hours in some cases and an untold number of medical emergency cases unattended. Mac Jam, I understand that the conservative media, including “progressive” “alternative” media have pushed the carbon tax idea to a hilt and have hit a nerve by many people in doing so. That, however, is not the real danger we face. It is rather uncomfortable for major corporations that should and possibly would pay the dearest for their pollution – if we lived in a just world. Instead, they like to use fear of the little guy paying it to sway people into thinking that’s the real issue. In other words, they use the tried and true tool – distraction — as well as fear.
The real issue here, however, the one you do not hear the fossil fuel industry NWO slaves ever admit is this: human suffering and eventual extinction if we allow the dirty greed that ultimately is creating the worst of the global warming crisis to continue.

Hmm. In my desk here is an autobiographical item written by my mother. She describes flooding that reached the roofs of houses.
In the 1930s in Ohio.
Of course, Louisiana gets more precipitation than Ohio. And apparently it has a lot of people living near rivers.
Rainfall and flooding of low-lying areas is not new, in this world. And to suggest that THIS flooding has something to do with coal or oil is a logic fallacy called:
“Circular reasoning” or “Begging the question”
To think that Louisiana flooding has nothing to do with oil and gas is folly. To insinuate otherwise is again, just what the fossil fuel industry pays people to do. Please read it again and understand: Most Louisiana oil and gas incidents occur due to floods.
Typically, the truth about the numbers of refineries that leaked and the respective amounts is held secret as long as possible – after many people have been exposed to the carcinogens.
Oil didn’t cause the rain. Oil didn’t cause the floods. I was clear.
Toxic chemicals leaking into floodwaters is a different subject. And one even more remote from climate.

Why is aid , expecially water, being blocked? Someboody ought to take down the namnes of thosde people so thwey can be seriously prosecuted for attempted murder later on.
Seems to be such a logical action that you suggest, I only hope somebody has done just that. Same happened during the aftermath of Katrina, as you probably recall. People were told at gunpoint they’d be shot if they attempted rescues. Many, however, took their chances. Millions of dollars worth of aid from overseas was blocked. Yes, attempted murder — but no accountability.
I think the total deaths will NOT be released. I think more like several hundred or even thousand people lost their lives…..how many are unaccounted for? Maybe they are being taken against their will and used as cannibal fodder in other states. No, I am not deranged in my thinking about this. Stands to reason why there were only a hundred or so deaths from Andrew…when there were photos of many refrigerated trucks seen in the Miami area….same with Katrina….how many were totally unaccounted for after the storm that supposedly went elsewhere? Who will report deaths of homeless people? Who provided such information after Katrina? Nobody.
I hesitate mentioning this now, and have refrained from doing so thus far: Alligators are hungry and mean in Louisiana.

I’m with you, though. In my silver years, it’s very sad to continue watching the decline of my country, while the people fall for insane distractions rather than tend to obvious needs and acting in their best interest.
