The IPO Buzz: November Starts Slow with U.S. Elections & Anthropic in Focus
The IPO market is in slow-mo mode as November gets under way. No IPOs are scheduled to price this week. That’s not surprising, considering the U.S. stock market’s plunge on Friday, Oct. 30 – marking the Nasdaq’s worst month since March 2025 and the mid-term U.S. elections tomorrow – on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
The IPO pros – and IPO investors – are looking ahead to Anthropic (ANT Proposed), which is expected to unveil the terms soon for its blockbuster IPO that could raise $75 billion to $100 billion – a deal that could be the biggest IPO of all time. Anthropic, the company behind the AI chatbot Claude, disclosed early today that it took in nearly $17 billion in third-quarter revenue, as Bloomberg noted, according to an S-1/A filing dated Nov. 2, 2026. That was nearly 12 times the revenue in the year-ago period, Bloomberg said. The bottom line showed that Anthropic had a net loss of $23.3 billion for the third quarter of 2026, which ended on Sept. 30.
Anthropic’s IPO is likely to price before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 26, 2026.
On Monday, U.S. stocks rebounded from Friday’s rout. The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 575.06 points – for a gain of 1.11 percent – at 52,345.37 in late morning trading, while the tech-driven NASDAQ Composite Index was up 169.98 points – up about 0.67 percent – at 25,606.98. The broad S&P 500 Index was up 44.12 points – up about 0.58 percent – at 7,624.19.
Morgan Stanley strategists said today that the U.S. stock market correction that began in June is in its “final innings” – and the Nov. 3rd mid-term elections should help remove a major market overhang, Yahoo Finance reported on Monday morning, Nov. 2.
IPOScoop founder John E. Fitzgibbon, Jr., often pointed out the three things that influence the direction of the U.S. stock market – and by extension, the direction of the IPO market: “Politics, interest rates and earnings.”
Well, this week, it’s prime time for politics, of course.
Last week, the Fed left U.S. interest rates unchanged. But the split vote indicated that a rate increase might be in the cards in December. (See Bloomberg story on Oct. 30, 2026, headlined ”Fed Officials Back More Rate Hikes, Gradual Pace of Tightening”
Today, after the closing bell, the Street awaits Apple’s earnings and new Apple CEO John Ternus is expected to address Wall Street in a meaningful way for the first time, CNBC reported today.
Stay tuned.
