Gold Explorer Holds Strategic Nevada 'Donut Hole'

Bullfrog Gold Corp. (FROG:TSXV; BFROF:OTCQX) is preparing a Q4 maiden drill program on its “donut hole” land package in Nevada’s Beatty District, surrounded by AngloGold’s multimillion-ounce projects. Find out why one newsletter sees a takeover angle taking shape.

Bullfrog Gold Corp.’s (FROG:TSXV; BFROF:OTCQX) common shares have begun trading on the OTCQX Venture Market under the symbol BFROF, giving U.S. investors greater access and visibility, according to a September 2 release. The company’s shares will remain listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol FROG.

The OTCQX Venture Market serves early-stage and growing companies from the U.S. and international markets, including businesses operating in mining and natural resources, the release noted.

OTCQX-listed companies maintain current disclosure and complete annual verification and management certification procedures. Investors can access real-time quotations and company market data through the OTC Markets website.

Bullfrog Gold owns a 100% interest in the South Bullfrog gold project, which comprises 488 BLM (Bureau of Land Management) claims spanning 10,050 acres in the center of Nevada’s Beatty district. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU:NYSE; ANG:JSE) consolidated the district between 2021 and 2025 through acquisitions, the company said.

South Bullfrog lies between AngloGold’s Bullfrog, North Bullfrog and Arthur development projects, which collectively contain 6 million ounces (Moz) of probable gold reserves, represented by 164.65 million tonnes grading 1.14 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, along with 7.6 Moz of measured and indicated resources excluding reserves, based on 345.24 million tonnes grading 0.69 g/t, and 8 Moz of inferred resources from 320.03 million tonnes grading 0.78 g/t, the release noted.

Bullfrog said it has drill permits in place and five targets ready for testing. The targets are supported by historical workings, pathfinder elements identified through surface rock and soil geochemistry, surface alteration, magnetic, electromagnetic, and gravity surveys, as well as favorable host rocks.

Drilling to Test Longtail and Shingleback in Q4

Bullfrog has retained Major Drilling for its fully permitted 2026 maiden drill program at South Bullfrog, according to a September 1 release. Drilling is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a contractor the company said brings extensive experience across the Beatty District.

The program will target two of the project’s highest-priority prospects, the Longtail and Shingleback epithermal gold targets, with roughly 3,000 meters of exploration diamond drilling planned across seven permitted pads, four at Shingleback and three at Longtail.

At Longtail, widespread silica-kaolinite (steam-heated) alteration, partly hidden beneath shallow cover, coincides with arsenic-antimony pathfinder geochemistry in rock and soil samples and with favorably oriented fault damage zones. Together, the company said, those features “make this target geologically analogous to AngloGold’s Silicon deposit” on the Arthur Project. Drilling will test a resistivity feature that may reflect silicification, alongside a chargeability anomaly interpreted as subsurface sulphides reaching from surface to about 400 meters depth.

Shingleback carries steam-heated silica-alunite surface alteration, favorably oriented brittle structures along the Twin Shafts Fault, and numerous old workings, including activity at the Schoch shaft as recently as 2014. The company also pointed to supportive stream-sediment geochemistry and a broad IP-resistivity feature that coincides with the intersection of the Twin Shafts and Basalt faults.

The ‘Donut Hole’ in AngloGold’s Beatty District

On September 3, Jeff Clark, Daniel Flynn, and Sharyn Alexander of The Paydirt Prospector newsletter spotlighted Bullfrog for what they call a “donut hole” position in Nevada’s Beatty Gold District.

The team running Outcrop Silver & Gold Corp. (OCG:TSX.V; OCGSF:OTCQX; MRG1:DE) previously staked and consolidated a large, unclaimed block with strong geology and high-grade historic surface workings, ringed by multi-million-ounce mines. AngloGold Ashanti has since spent close to US$700 million rolling up the surrounding district, leaving Bullfrog’s ground as the lone independent block in the middle. Outcrop spun the company out as a standalone vehicle earlier this year.

Bullfrog has defined several drill-permitted targets it says resemble the deposits around it and plans to drill in the fourth quarter, having just picked Major Drilling, the contractor that drilled Beatty for AngloGold. The publication framed the appeal as a takeover thesis: after the major’s heavy spending to consolidate the district, a drill result confirming gold on Bullfrog’s central block could lift its strategic value quickly.

The company is led by Outcrop founder Ian Slater, a 30-year mining veteran staying on as chairman and CEO, which the newsletter read as a signal of the opportunity’s scale. Independent director Ian Harris previously helped take a copper project in Ecuador through development ahead of its US$690 million sale, and Vice President of Exploration Dan MacNeil, an economic geologist with more than 20 years’ experience, including time with a major Nevada producer, first identified the ground.

Nevada ranks among the world’s top mining jurisdictions, and the Beatty District has re-emerged as one of its busiest gold camps. The standout among nearby projects is Arthur, immediately east, which holds 3.4 Moz measured and indicated and 12.9 Moz inferred across the Silicon and Merlin deposits, as cited by The Paydirt Prospector. Slater said Arthur first drew AngloGold to the area. The major’s district buying, US$371 million and US$150 million on two deals and CA$197 million on a third, signaled both the worth of strategic ounces there and its commitment.

South Bullfrog spans 10,050 acres and hosts five priority targets backed by historic workings, geochemistry, alteration, and geophysics, with four permitted for drilling: Shingleback, Bottoms-Up, Sledge and Longtail. The western targets resemble higher-grade epithermal vein mineralization near the Bullfrog Pit and North Bullfrog, while Longtail, farther east, is the one Bullfrog likens to Arthur’s Silicon and Merlin, testing for a larger system beneath shallow cover. Alexander called Longtail the standout, where a small window exposes intense steam-heated alteration and pathfinder metals beside a kilometer-scale magnetic low and coincident geophysical responses. “Bullfrog has assembled a credible geological case, but the thesis remains untested,” she wrote, adding that drilling is the step that matters most, ahead of a planned roughly 3,000-meter program.

Calling Bullfrog a pre-discovery, higher-risk play, The Paydirt Prospector pointed to its strategic land position, look-alike targets, and a Q4 drill catalyst. It recommended buying a first tranche at the roughly CA$12 million valuation and adding on any post-financing dip, noting the company raised CA$1.5 million in seed capital at listing and will likely need more to fund drilling.

“We like the setup here: a tiny valuation, a tight share structure, a strategic land position with serious nearby validation, and a maiden drill program on the way,” the report noted. “We recommend buying a first tranche now and look to add more if the stock dips after a financing.”

Commentator Highlights Bullfrog’s Strategic Position

In a commentary for Ahead of the Herd on September 7, Richard Mills framed Bullfrog Gold as both a drill play and a consolidation target, pointing to its position wedged among AngloGold Ashanti’s Beatty District development projects. He noted the company’s five high-priority targets — Longtail, Shingleback, Sledge, Bottoms-Up, and the SE Block — as potential extensions of AngloGold’s surrounding system, with mapping and surface work now completed to de-risk them ahead of the Q4 2026 drill program.

Mills described two geological models across the property: western targets that mirror the high-grade epithermal veins historically mined in the district, and eastern ground that shows the bulk-tonnage signature of AngloGold’s Arthur discovery. “At AOTH, we believe Bullfrog Gold has positioned itself as an extremely interesting drill play and a potential consolidation play,” he wrote.

The Catalyst: Citi Eyes US$5,000 Gold as Jobs Data Bites

Citi remains bullish on precious metals, setting a zero-to-three-month gold price target of US$4,800 per ounce and a six-to-12-month forecast of US$5,000, compared with a spot price of roughly US$4,500, Senad Karaahmetovic wrote for Investing.com on September 4. The bank expects silver to reach US$75 per ounce from approximately US$67.

Citi views gold’s decline after Warsh delivered a hawkish speech on August 29, 2026, as a potential entry point for buyers. The bank said the August rally carried significant risks around Jackson Hole and lacked solid support from physical demand, with speculative and paper-market activity accounting for much of the move.

The bank is watching the 100-day moving average near US$4,366 per ounce and the 50-day moving average around US$4,218 for signs of technical support. Citi also identified US$4,000 as a durable support level during July’s weaker trading.

“China and ultra-high-net-worth buying helped gold establish lows during July,” Citi said, adding that Treasury purchases of the yen and buying at the long end of the U.S. Treasury curve helped push prices higher.

Gold prices faced heavy selling pressure Friday, slipping below initial support at US$4,400 an ounce after the U.S. economy added substantially more jobs than expected in August, Neils Christensen reported for Kitco News on September 4. The stronger-than-anticipated labor data revived expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates later this month.

The U.S. Labor Department reported 162,000 new jobs for August, well above the 55,000 increase economists had forecast. The unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, matching expectations, while upward revisions to June and July also strengthened the employment picture. June payrolls increased by 11,000 to 31,000, while July’s figure rose to 21,000 from an initial decline of 23,000.

Spot gold last traded at US$4,385.80 an ounce, down nearly 2% on the day. Kyle Rodda, senior financial market analyst at Capital.com, said the latest figures leave the door open to a rate hike on Sept. 16, although the CME FedWatch Tool continued to indicate roughly even odds.

“The next hurdle is the coming week’s inflation data. If that comes in a little too spicy, then based on Chairperson Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech, a rate hike is likely to follow,” said Rodda.[OWNERSHIP_CHART-3922]

The report also pointed to continued wage growth, with average hourly earnings rising 0.3%, or 10 cents, to US$37.75. “With these revisions, employment in June and July combined is 55,000 higher than previously reported,” the report said, while annual wage growth reached 3.1%.

Common Investor Questions

What did Bullfrog Gold announce? Bullfrog’s shares began trading on the OTCQX Venture Market under the symbol BFROF, while remaining listed on the TSX Venture Exchange as FROG, according to a September 2 release. Separately, the company retained Major Drilling for a fully permitted 2026 maiden drill program at its South Bullfrog project.

What is South Bullfrog, and where is it? Bullfrog owns 100% of South Bullfrog, made up of 488 BLM claims across 10,050 acres in the center of Nevada’s Beatty District. The project sits as an independent block among AngloGold Ashanti’s Bullfrog, North Bullfrog, and Arthur development projects.

Why does the location matter? AngloGold spent close to US$700 million consolidating the surrounding Beatty District between 2021 and 2025, leaving Bullfrog’s ground as the lone independent block in the middle — the “donut hole.” The Paydirt Prospector newsletter framed the appeal as a takeover thesis: if drilling confirms gold on that central block, its strategic value to the major could rise quickly.

What does the drill program involve? The Q4 2026 program will test two of the project’s highest-priority targets, Longtail and Shingleback, with roughly 3,000 meters of exploration diamond drilling across seven permitted pads (four at Shingleback, three at Longtail).

What makes Longtail notable? Bullfrog says Longtail’s steam-heated alteration, arsenic-antimony pathfinder geochemistry, and fault damage zones “make this target geologically analogous to AngloGold’s Silicon deposit,” and drilling will test a resistivity feature and a chargeability anomaly interpreted as sulphides reaching to about 400 meters depth.
