In cases of bacterial and viral infections, the body produces excess mucus in order to trap microorganisms. Sinusitis is a condition in which sinuses become inflamed and swollen. This infection also causes post-nasal drip and thick, dark mucus.

1. Saltwater

Gargle salt water to eliminate throat mucus. Add half a teaspoon or a teaspoon of natural salt in a glass of warm water. Add a pinch of baking soda for optimal results. Gargle the solution several times a day.

2. Steam inhalation

Add therapeutic grade essential oils for better results. Use Eucalyptus Radiata, Ravintsara and Mild Thyme are some nice options. These also eliminate allergens from the air, prevent flu, common colds, sinusitis, and respiratory infections.

Add a few drops of the oils to your hot steamy shower or your essential oil diffuser.

3. Ginger

Ginger has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. A study released in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that hot ginger tea relieves respiratory infections. Steep a piece of ginger (1 inch) in a cup of boiling water. Steep for a few minutes, and drink your ginger tea 2-3 times a day. Add lemon juice, honey and cayenne to strengthen its effect.

4. Spice

Hot peppers, wasabi, and horseradish relieve congestion, reduce inflammation and prevent mucus buildups. Capsaicin and allyl isothiocyanate acts as a decongestant and relieves the symptoms of nasal discharge and inflammation.

5. Honey

      Meh! You don’t need to do all that!

      If you tear apart a doughnut you’ll notice it looks like a sponge. When you eat doughnuts it absorbs and scrapes your insides clean. Wash it down with some tea or coffee and yur DONE! :lol: :lol:

      I’ve used ozone ear insufflations usually a couple of times a week for two years now. Originally I tried them out from a place I found online, to get rid of throat pain from a tumor by my voice box, and swelling lymph nodes in my neck, which it did nicely. One thing that also happened was the complete disappearance of all the fluid that I had been suffering with in my lungs for the previous 2 1/2 years due to heart disease. Since ozone kills all bacteria and viruses on contact, it just naturally did the same thing in my lungs, since phlegm is bacteria growing in liquid in your lungs. This type of insufflation (ear) is indirect, and you do not inhale the ozone which can be dangerous!
