Sivanandapuram Cries For Help As Civic Crisis Persists

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Highlighting worsening civic conditions in Sivanandapuram, RCP City Committee member Vijayakumar submitted a petition to the municipal commissioner during a grievance redressal program, demanding urgent action to address basic infrastructure failures that have made daily life unbearable, especially during rains.

Severe civic crisis in Sivanandapuram

Vijayakumar described the situation as “unlivable”, stating that after every rainfall, rainwater mixes with sewage, turning streets into flooded cesspools. The absence of a proper drainage system has left residents struggling with hygiene and mobility. “It is impossible to walk here when it rains. We face hell daily,” he said.

Faulty elevation of Buddha Township road worsens flooding

He alleged that in the name of beautification, the road laid in Buddha Township has been built at a much higher elevation, creating an unnatural slope that prevents natural water flow and causes waterlogging in surrounding residential areas. “This elevation has blocked drainage flow and turned lower areas into catchment ponds,” Vijayakumar added.

Demand for emergency infrastructure overhaul

Calling the situation an emergency, Vijayakumar urged the municipal authorities to immediately take up reconstruction of roads, installation of proper drainage canals, development of a reliable drinking water system, and removal of a dangerously dilapidated water tank.

Appeal for swift municipal intervention

In his petition, he emphasized that these demands are not new, but repeated appeals from residents have been ignored. “We are not asking for luxuries. Just the basics—clean water, a working drain, and safe roads,” he told Before It’s News.
