Dual victories in Virginia and Texas for Election Integrity

Emerging Corruption – eternal vigilance is the price of Liberty

If the average American scoured their newspapers or clicked through local news outlets they would be hard pressed to find the news on the latest victory for election-integrity activists.

The cases involved the states of Texas and Virginia. In Texas:

“…the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rejected Project Vote’s challenge to the election-integrity measures passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by the Texas Legislature in 2011. The Texas Attorney General’s office released the following statement from Lauren Bean, spokeswoman for the Texas Attorney General’s Office

“The Attorney General’s Office is pleased that the courts have once again reaffirmed the Texas Legislature’s ability to adopt common-sense election laws that are designed to instill confidence in our electoral process and prevent election fraud…’”

The case in Virginia involved maintaining the voter rolls. Partisan forces sued the state with all of the logic that comes with the race card they presented as their defense. Traditionally, all efforts to legally maintain the voting rolls have been met with hostility, accusations of racism and threats of violence from so called voting rights groups. Such efforts have led to a number of states that have been forced into legal settlements, stripping them of their ability to properly maintain the rolls.

Mainstream media outlets across the country rush to cover headlines touting “The Myth of Voter Fraud” or similar phrases that push a partisan agenda, but when the rulings in two important legal cases were announced, the response was less than stellar. In fact, in the aftermath of the Virginia announcement, many news sites, including the Washington Post published articles that suggested partisan motivations were behind VA’s program of voter roll maintenance. Newsflash: It is federal law that requires state maintenance of voter rolls. Accurate data isn’t partisan.

Race hustlers and vote fraud deniers rely on disinformation and deflection. In the past 25 years groups like Project Vote, ACORN, the NAACP, and the League of Women Voters have consistently promoted messages that have undertones of racial discrimination.

What does all this mean to you?

Advocates for free and fair elections should be heartened by these latest victories in Texas and Virginia. They are an indicator that states are actively working to protect the sanctity of your vote and to prevent voter fraud. But, the syndicate that exists to subvert process and stir up racial tension will not give up with out a fight. Expect the battles for voter rights to heat up, with increased litigation from both sides, as we go head to head to compete for the integrity of America’s electoral system.
