OTL: Spotlight on Ravens’ New Coordinators

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The end of the 2025 season brought a wave of new change across the coaching staff. It started at the top, with John Harbaugh departing for Jesse Minter, and the reshaping continued to the coordinator and assistant positions.

I felt it then, and I continue to believe that all three coordinator hires (the third being Anthony Levine’s special teams promotion) are slam dunks.

Perhaps the biggest concern for Baltimore is if this coordinating trio holds together for more than a few years. It seems like Declan Doyle is already a hot name in NFL circles, Anthony Weaver has garnered head coaching interest over the past few years, and Anthony Levine is only four years into his coaching career, but at age 39 has climbed the ranks to become a coordinator.

Realistically, if the Ravens find the success we all hope to see, Doyle and Weaver could be gone sooner rather than later.

I think that Doyle has a chance to have a Ben Johnson kind of coaching breakout this season in Baltimore. Johnson had an outstanding ‘23 as the offensive coordinator in Detroit, and then he stuck around one more year before taking the head coaching job in Chicago.

Doyle basically followed Sean Payton around for his first five years as an NFL assistant. He spent 2019-22 as an offensive assistant in New Orleans, and then two seasons in Denver as the tight ends coach in 2023 and ‘24.

Doyle was Johnson’s offensive coordinator in Chicago last season, and Johnson is certainly a stellar offensive mind to learn under. Doyle didn’t call plays in 2025, which will pose a new challenge, but he seems ready to work, and it showed in the newest edition of Ravens Wired.

It seems like Weaver interviewed for nearly every vacancy this past offseason. The Falcons, Steelers, Cardinals, and Bills all interviewed him for head coaching vacancies, as did Baltimore, before settling on him as their DC.

In 2024 Weaver led the Dolphins defense to a fourth-place finish in total defense despite the unit having only one Pro-Bowler, Jalen Ramsey.  The defense wasn’t stellar in ‘25, but neither was any part of the Dolphins.

Weaver is very experienced, and now in his second stint with the Ravens. He’s one of the most well-spoken people I’ve ever heard at the podium, and should pair very well with Minter, providing some defensive expertise to the HC in his first year at the helm.

Let’s not forget about Levine, who’s probably on the Ravens’ all-time most likable players list. Co-Cap always brought the energy on the field as a player, and he’ll now be responsible for restoring it in what’s seemed to be a lacking special teams unit over the last few seasons.

Between kicks out of bounds, seemingly poor kickoff coverage throughout last year, and a lack of big returns, Levine has some work to do. The glory days of the Wolfpack of Justin Tucker/Sam Koch/Morgan Cox are long gone, but the Ravens will probably never lose their M.O. of being a supposedly solid special teams unit, even with John Harbaugh out the door.

It was a revolving door a season ago, and though a mass exodus is unlikely anytime soon, will it start to spin once again a few seasons down the road? If so, let’s hope it’s due to success, and not failure.
