Fever star Caitlin Clark makes WNBA decision amid ongoing tension
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is expected to take part in what will be her second WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday. This year is the third time she has been voted an All-Star, but she was forced to withdraw from last year’s exhibition game due to injury.
There is a lot of anticipation surrounding Clark as she makes the quick trip to Chicago for Saturday’s All-Star Game at United Center. Joining her will be teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, who are both All-Stars for the fourth straight year.
Clark and Boston will be on Team Spoon under coach Teresa Weatherspoon. Kelsey Mitchell will be on the opposing side with Team Coop under coach Cynthia Cooper.

Caitlin Clark declines WNBA invitation for 3-Point Contest
On Tuesday, the WNBA announced the participants for the All-Star 3-Point Contest, which will be held on Friday. Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick of this year’s draft, headlines the list. She will be going up against Marina Mabrey, Rhyne Howard, Janelle Salaun, Bridget Carleton and Natisha Hiedeman.
As it turns out, Clark received an invite to participate in the 3-Point Contest. However, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, Clark decided to turn down the chance to take part in her first 3-Point Contest.
Philippou did not reveal the reason behind Clark’s decision. However, reigning 3-Point Contest champion Sabrina Ionescu has also opted to decline the WNBA’s invite to defend her crown.
Clark’s decision comes amid the ongoing tension with the WNBA. The 24-year-old has been critical of the officiating this season, particularly with how game officials seem to miss foul calls against her.
Clark was involved in a recent incident with Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas, who drove her fist into Clark’s throat during a game. The refs did not call a foul on Thomas. The WNBA subsequently reviewed the incident and issued a Flagrant 2 foul on Thomas, resulting in a one-game suspension.
On Saturday against the New York Liberty, Clark received her sixth technical foul of the season. She screamed at a ref after another missed call, and the official called a tech on her for excessive complaining. Clark will be suspended for one game if she gets her eighth tech of the season.
On Monday, the Fever superstar said that she thought the call was a “pretty quick technical, but whatever.” She also made it clear that she has no plans of changing the way she carries herself on the court despite the looming suspension.
