Chicago White Sox land outfielder ahead of MLB Trade Deadline
With the success the Chicago White Sox have had this season, they put themselves in a spot to be a buyer at the MLB Trade Deadline. Going into Monday’s deadline, the White Sox have a three-game lead in the AL Central and are looking to get even better.
Chicago has already made a few big moves, headlined by acquiring Luis Castillo over the weekend. That helped the White Sox rotation for their postseason push. Now, they are adding another player to the outfield.
On Monday, the White Sox agreed to a deal to acquire outfielder Brenton Doyle from the Colorado Rockies. Chicago will send right-hander Mason Adams and shortstop Carlos Vielma to Colorado in the deal.

Chicago White Sox make buy low deal to acquire Brenton Doyle
The addition of Doyle is huge defensively for the White Sox. He’s a two-time gold glove winner and a really good option in center field for the White Sox. He now gives them a good option to put in the outfield to showcase his defense.
On offense, he’s still a work in progress. Here is what MLB Trade Rumors wrote on the deal to send Doyle to Chicago:
In 129 plate appearances this year, he’s batting just .214/.287/.282 with a single home run. Doyle is striking out at a 32.6% clip, and 54.8% of his batted balls are on the ground, a marked increase from 46.2% last year and 41.0% in his solid 2024 season. He is walking at a career-best 9.3% rate, but that’s about the only thing going well for him at the dish.
In that 2024 season, Doyle produced a line of .260/.317/.446 in just over 600 plate appearances. He struck out at a more manageable 25.4% clip while showing decent power and speed, including 23 home runs and 30 stolen bases. The end result was a 97 wRC+, indicating that Doyle was 3% below league average when adjusting for Coors Field.
Chicago may not be done adding at the deadline just yet.
