‘It makes my life easy’: Caitlin Clark tells the truth on Fever teammate

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (0) and guard Caitlin Clark (22)

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever bounced back strong after a 5-5 start. While the three-time All-Star continues to play well, Kelsey Mitchell has been on a hot scoring stretch, producing 20-plus points in 14 consecutive games.

Clark entered the campaign with her sights set on putting her injury troubles last year in the rear view mirror. She dealt with ankle, groin and quad injuries in 2025, which limited her to just 13 games and caused her to miss the entire postseason. Mitchell, on the other hand, aims to deliver a championship to the only team she has suited up for in her WNBA career. The MVP candidates are doing their best to position the team better for the playoffs.

Indiana stands at 19-11 for the season despite snapping its five-game winning streak on Sunday. Mitchell scored a game-high 37 points, with three assists and six three-pointers. Clark backed her with 19 points and 10 assists, while Aliyah Boston produced 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the 108-100 loss to Minnesota.

Chicago Sky rival and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) talks to Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (0) during the first half during game two of the first round of the 2024 WNBA Playoffs at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark shares opinion on Kelsey Mitchell’s scoring streak

Clark opened up on how Mitchell’s red-hot run has made her job easier. She also predicted that the veteran star guard will register a 40-point game during their upcoming matchups.

“It’s really fun, and obviously, it makes my life easy,” Clark said. “I just try to give her the rock, but it feels like every time she shoots it, it goes in (and) she always puts the defense under stress, It’s really fun to witness up close, she’s a hooper and she carries herself in the most professional manner, It’s really fun to be her teammate, she always has her foot on the gas, so expect 40 soon, too.”

Mitchell is averaging 24.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. While she is more of a scorer, Clark’s playmaking makes up for her lack of playmaking. The Iowa product is producing a career-high 21.5 points, along with 8.0 assists in a career-low 29.6 minutes. Clark, Mitchell and Boston will continue to punish defenses as the season progresses. The team aims to finish the regular season strong and contend for a title.
