Skip Bayless blames Caitlin Clark for Fever’s tough loss to Aces

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22)

Caitlin Clark recorded 20 points, three rebounds and eight assists against the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday. However, the Indiana Fever superstar struggled from the field, shooting 7-of-20, and committed eight turnovers. One of them came late in overtime and led to Chelsea Gray hitting the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. Skip Bayless didn’t mince words and blamed the superstar guard for the 86-84 defeat.

The Fever also received strong production from Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 28 points and provided four assists. Aliyah Boston achieved a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double in the home loss. A’ja Wilson led the way for the Aces with 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Jackie Young contributed 22 points and nine assists. Gray scored 11 points, also hitting a triple that forced overtime, along with seven assists.

Skip Bayless holds Fever star Caitlin Clark accountable for loss to Aces

Bayless shared his thoughts on Thursday’s marquee matchup on X. He called out Clark for the loss, citing her crucial error and also missing two free throws as the biggest reasons for it.

“This awful home loss is on Caitlin,” Bayless wrote. “Missed both clinching free throws late in reg, then terrible turnover late in OT. Chelsea Gray made her pay both times with stunning clutch 3s – to tie at the buzzer then win it at the buzzer. Congrats to Chelsea/Aces, who were down 20.”

The veteran sports analyst is known for his fiery takes and for not holding back with his social media posts. However, Clark has a chance to prove that her performance versus Las Vegas was a one-off. She and Indiana will return to action on Saturday to face the Chicago Sky. A victory will right the ship for the Fever and snap their two-game skid. Winning the game will also give them a lot of momentum ahead of a two-game homestand against the New York Liberty and Dallas Wings.
