Kyle Monangai absent from Chicago Bears practice before Eagles clash
The Chicago Bears are already dealing with quarterback Caleb Williams’ worrying injury. If they were to lose any other members of their offensive attack, the situation would become even more dire.
That was the case on Wednesday though, as running back Kyle Monangai wasn’t present for the portion of practice open to media, via Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. While no injury distinction has officially been announced, Monangai has faced with knee problems in the past.
“RB Kyle Monangai was not present during the portion of #Bears practice open to media,” Biggs wrote. “Monangai missed time late in training camp with a right knee injury but returned to rush for 100 yards in Week 1. He had a brief trip to medical tent during Sunday’s loss to Minnesota.”
With the Bears playing on Monday Night Football, the running back will have an extra day to heal up. Having so many bumps and bruises, perhaps Chicago decided to take it easy. Still, the running back’s status will be murky until he returns to practice.
Injuries have become the headline for the Bears entering Week 3. Now, Monangai has joined the list of those banged up.
Kyle Monangai joins Chicago Bears’ injury list

Losing Monangai for any amount of time would be a massive blow for the Bears. He has formed a lethal tandem with D’Andre Swift, completely revitalizing the Bears’ run game. In Week 1 the duo, alongside Williams, set numerous records with 291 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
The Bears were limited to just 134 yards on the ground against the Minnesota Vikings. And still, they enter their matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles ranked first in rushing, averaging 212.5 yards per game. Monangai is a big reason Chicago currently holds the rushing lead and will be expected to continue being a pivotal source of yardage.
Through his first two games, Monangai has turned 20 carries into 147 yards and a touchdown. His 7.4 yards per carry leads the entire league. With that kind of efficiency and production will always have a spot in Johnson’s offense.
But he must be on the field to truly make an impact. The Bears will look for Monangai to return to practice at some point this week. His name will be monitored heavily on the injury report leading up to Monday Night Football.
