White Sox’s Miguel Vargas sends fiery 4-word playoff push message
The Chicago White Sox have been on rocky ground to end the regular season, losing their stranglehold of the AL Central. They had lost their previous three-game series against the new division leaders in the Cleveland Guardians. But if there’s one thing the White Sox haven’t done, it’s cower.
The franchise took three of four in their ensuring series against the Detroit Tigers. And on Tuesday, the White Sox opened their three-game set against the Kansas City Royals with a 14-11 victory. There was some drama late as the Royals poured on seven runs in the final two innings. But the White Sox still managed to muscle themselves to victory.
Now 81-76, Chicago sits just one game back of Cleveland in the AL Central. They hold a three game lead in the Wild Card race. Should the White Sox win on Wednesday and the Texas Rangers lose, Chicago’s postseason spot will be secured.
Entering the year, no one expected the White Sox to be contenders. Now, they’re on the doorstep of truly shocking the MLB world.
White Sox’s Miguel Vargas sends rallying cry
Third baseman Miguel Vargas knocked in his 89th RBI of the season on Tuesday. He has seen the ups and downs of the White Sox all season. And if there’s one thing Vargas knows, it’s that Chicago doesn’t quit, via Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
“It’s the 2026 White Sox,” Vargas said. “We don’t give up.”
Despite the excitement of the White Sox’s now three-game win streak, Vargas is not looking in the rearview mirror. He knows there is still baseball to play. Chicago’s ultimate goals have yet to be fully accomplished.
“We go the next day and play another nine innings,” Vargas said. “We have to be ready the next day. I don’t think having a tough game affects us. Obviously we get mad, we get pissed, but we find a way to recover the next day and win the game.”
The White Sox will be relying on Vargas to continue leading their offense. Chicago will need everyone in the organization to embrace his winning mentality.
