Chicago Bears QB Tyson Bagent’s feelings about potential trade: Report
Chicago Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent has said he believes he’s one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the league and believes he should have an opportunity to get a starting shot in the future.
With Caleb Williams on the roster, Bagent has realistically no chance to earn the permanent starting job for Chicago. However, Williams’ Grade 2 high-ankle sprain allowed Bagent to play in the Bears’ 23-12 win over the New York Jets (Bagent wasn’t credited with the win as Case Keenum played QB on the first snap).
Bagent will get the start against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. How he plays in Williams’ absence could help his stock before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Sunday will be his first start since 2023.
Per Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports, the Bears are not expected to trade Bagent before the deadline unless Chicago is blown away with a “great deal” for the undrafted quarterback, though there is serious interest expected for Bagent. Bagent appears to feel content with his situation in Chicago.
“I doubt they move the quarterback, who I’m told is happy with his present situation in Chicago and enjoys learning under head coach Ben Johnson,” Pauline wrote.
Chicago Bears need a good backup like Tyson Bagent

The Bears are trying to compete for a Super Bowl this season, and that makes the backup quarterback position important. The Denver Broncos probably would have made the Super Bowl last season had they had a better backup than Jarrett Stidham.
Keenum showed he’s capable of winning games in the Bears’ win over the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football” in Week 3. Still, Chicago likes the mobility that Bagent can bring to the offense.
That doesn’t mean the Bears won’t accept a trade for good compensation for Bagent. Look at what Eagles general manager Howie Roseman did with Cam Jurgens, trading away the two-time Pro Bowl center to the Baltimore Ravens for a deal that included a 2028 second-round pick.
If the Bears could get a similar kind of deal for Bagent, they’d be smart to jump on it. How high Bagent’s market goes will be dependent on how he plays until Williams is healthy.
