Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark

And Caitlin Clark appeared on “College GameDay” last Saturday at her alma matter, the University of Iowa. She served as the celebrity guest picker and shared her selections. It came just two days after the Indiana Fever were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Clark and the Fever pushed the Las Vegas Aces, to a winner-take-all Game 3. However, they failed to dethrone the defending champions, losing 94-83 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The three-time All-Star struggled from the field, shooting 6-of-18. She finished with 18 points, two rebounds, four assists and three three-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana’s charge with 23 points but was also inefficient, converting just 7-of-23 shots. Aliyah Boston added 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark apologizes to Minnesota Golden Gophers coach

Clark discussed her stint on the show during her media presser on Thursday. She apologized to Minnesota Golden Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck for picking the Michigan Wolverines instead.

“It was really fun,” Clark said. “I think I went 5-5 in my picks, though. I had a gut feeling Minnesota was going to win, so I apologized to P.J. Fleck. I just knew that Minnesota was going to beat Michigan, and I just didn’t have the gut to do it. I think the line was plus six. And I knew they were going to cover that but I feel i feel bad about that one.

“And then I had to take Florida after they had just won by 30 and then they lost by 40. So I don’t really know what’s happening in the SEC football but that was really fun. Obviously, Pat’s (McAfee) crazy and it was fun just getting to be on set with those guys and do that. That’s a bucket list item for people. Not many people get to be the “College GameDay” picker.”

The Golden Gophers went on to defeat the Wolverines 20-14 to improve to 4-1 (2-0 Big Ten) for the season. Michigan dropped to 3-2 (0-2 Big Ten) in what has been a disappointing campaign so far for the 2023 national champions.

Clark, on the other hand, will have the offseason to prepare better for a potential title run next year. She and the Fever finished the regular season with a 28-16 record and clinched the No. 6 seed.
