Caitlin Clark sends strong message on Stephanie White amid Fever rumors
The Indiana Fever are facing a crucial offseason. Their front office will have to make big decisions on some of their key players and personnel, including Stephanie White. The veteran head coach’s future with the franchise is unclear, with rumors about a potential firing, and Caitlin Clark sent a strong message about it.
White guided the team to a 28-16 regular season to secure the No. 6 seed in the playoffs. She is in her second stint with the franchise as a head coach, having served in the same role from 2015 to 2016. The 49-year-old returned to the Fever in November 2024 and has helped them qualify for the postseason in back-to-back years. She also played for them from 2000 to 2004.
Indiana faced the Las Vegas Aces in the first round. White and Co. pushed the series to a Game 3 last Thursday but lost 94-83 at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark shares appreciation for Stephanie White
Clark spoke highly of White during Thursday’s media session. She talked about how much she appreciates her and the pressure that comes with coaching the Fever.
“This is the best job in women’s basketball and possibly women’s sports, getting to lead this franchise that has so much notoriety,” Clark said. “But at the same time, it can come with some negatives and people are going to criticize everything that you do. That’s just reality and people expect greatness. I think for personally, my relationship with Steph, she’s somebody that’s always supported me. It’s been really fun getting to play for her (for) a year and a half at this point.
“She expects great things out of us. She’s a fiery passion about her that I really, really admire, and I think I have a lot of that in myself too… When people don’t live up to certain expectations, it’s not always on the coaching staff. There’s a lot of other areas that need to be evaluated. It’s just as much on its players to play better and help us win.”

Indiana also has to address Kelsey Mitchell’s future. She is set for unrestricted free agency, and general manager Amber Cox has made it clear that re-signing the four-time All-Star is a “major priority.” If the team decides to run it back with them, it may still need to add some pieces to be in the best position to win a title.
