WNBA reacts to what Angel Reese said after Dream’s Game 2 win
Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are one win away from reaching the WNBA Finals. They defeated the New York Liberty in overtime on Wednesday to take a 2-0 semifinals lead. The 2026 Defensive Player of the Year celebrated after the game with WNBA legends Tina Charles and Nneka Ogwumike.
Reese finished with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, along with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Jordin Canada added 23 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the 101-98 victory. All five Atlanta starters scored in double digits, as Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon and DeWanna Bonner produced 18, 12 and 10, respectively.
Breanna Stewart led the Liberty’s attack with a game-high 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Jonquel Jones backed her with 21 points and eight assists. The series now shifts to Barclays Center for Games 3 and 4 with the home team facing elimination.

Charles and Ogwumike were at courtside for Game 2. They congratulated Reese after the win, sharing hugs and pleasantries. The Dream star spoke about their exchange during her postgame presser, highlighting the support she has been receiving from them. The league reacted to it in the caption.

“Nneka and Tina have been two great vets to me since I’ve entered the league,” Reese said. “Obviously, Tina has played here, so she knows what it means to be in Atlanta and the culture here. And Nneka knows what it means to win. Being able to have that support here means everything to me and all of us.”
Charles last suited up in the WNBA for the Connecticut Sun last season and played for Atlanta in 2024 alongside Reese. Meanwhile, Ogwumike returned to the Los Angeles Sparks this year after starring for the franchise from 2012 to 2023. She announced that in August that this would be her last season.
Reese and Atlanta remain undefeated in the playoffs after sweeping the Washington Mystics in the first round. They will look to make it six consecutive postseason wins on Friday and advance to the finals for the first time since 2013.
