Caitlin Clark makes her opinion of Kelsey Mitchell’s Fever future very clear
The Indiana Fever have a lot of moves to to make in the offseason. The biggest is arguably how they can re-sign Kelsey Mitchell, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent. Caitlin Clark wants her to return and she made her opinion about the four-time All-Star’s future clear.
The duo formed the highest-scoring backcourt in the WNBA. Clark and Mitchell powered Indiana to a 28-16 regular-season record and clinched the No. 6 seed. They faced the Las Vegas Aces in the first round, pushing the series to a winner-take-all Game 3 last Thursday. However, the Fever lost 94-83 and saw their season end early.
Clark and Aliyah Boston will likely remain with the team and could continue leading its charge as a three-headed monster with Mitchell. The 30-year-old is already being linked to other franchises, and more are expected to show interest in her. She is coming off a campaign where she broke several league records and finished second in points per game.
Caitlin Clark speaks on Kelsey Mitchell’s importance to Fever
The 2024 Rookie of the Year addressed the media on Thursday. Clark spoke about her appreciation for Mitchell and how much she wants her back with Indiana next season.
“Kelsey’s a really great person and I love getting to be in the locker room with her,” Clark said. “You guys have got to know her a little bit and she’s just a good soul. This organization has and these fans have really rallied around her and have supported her, and more than anything, I hope she comes back here and the arena is chanting ‘MVP’ for her again. Because that’s what she deserves.
“She’s been with this organization nine years it would be, if I’m not mistaken, 10, if we’re able to sign her back. So that’s certainly our goal. That’s our number one priority. For myself, my number one priority. I hope for the rest of my career, I get to play alongside her. That’s how easy she makes my job.”
“There’s nobody I would want to share the backcourt with other than her.”
Caitlin Clark says it’s important to her that the Fever keep Kelsey Mitchell, who averaged 24 points this season and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. https://t.co/245RQOXFqy

Mitchell is in her prime, while Clark and Boston have years before they reach theirs. Having Mitchell not only completes the Fever’s Big 3, but also gives them a proven veteran who is hungry to win it all.
