Grady Jarrett makes Chicago Bears plea before Falcons clash

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett made a name for himself with the Atlanta Falcons. Originally from Georgia, Jarrett spent the first 10 years of his NFL career with the franchise, making two Pro Bowls. The Chicago Bears’ Week 6 matchup against the Falcons will surely bring up some old memories.

But the game is also a reminder for the defensive tackle. He is now in his 12th year in the league. And still, Jarrett knows he still has room to grow throughout the 2026 campaign, via Kevin Fishbain of the Athletic.

“Am I where I want to be? No, because there’s so much more further out there for me to go get,” Jarrett said. “And that’s what I’m chasing every week. And through my style of play, the way I play, and effort, energy, tenacity, (I) want that to spread through my team, and the results, as far as the numbers that we track and this and that, that’ll take care of itself in the end.”

Through the first five weeks, Jarrett has put up 11 tackles and two quarterback hits. His 66.3 grade from Pro Football Focus ranks 37/133 defensive tackles.

Alongside his own growth, Jarrett has pointed out a clear area where Chicago must improve. He may have an affinity for the Falcons, but he wants the Bears to come out on top in Week 6.

The Bears have had plenty of highlights on defense, as they enter Week 6 ranked ninth, allowing 311.4 yards per game. However, some clear problems have emerged as well. In a 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Chicago allowed four passes of 40+ yards.

For Jarrett, it comes down to how badly the Bears want to play. They know the plan defensive coordinator Dennis Allen has put forth. Chicago must now operate to their fullest and leave no regrets on the gridiron, via Fishbain.

“We got to play with edge,” he said. “We got to play with effort and relentless technique, you know what I’m saying? A real desire to have success. And we got to compete just undoubtedly. Compete’s got to jump off the tape at every level. And that starts with me, going out there, doing what I need to do as a captain of the defense and setting the tone.”

As a defensive captain, Jarrett takes his role as a leader seriously. He’ll surely have plenty of intel on what it’s like to play in Atlanta. When the Bears take the field, Jarrett doesn’t want to see any sunken heads from what went down in Week 5. It’s a new day, and a new opportunity to prove Chicago can be a legit contender.
