Report: Chicago Bears’ trade deadline buying spree won’t include Maxx Crosby
At 5-2, the Chicago Bears are entering the trade deadline with aggressive expectations. Chicago believes in their ability to go on a deep playoff run. But some extra reinforcements might be necessary to make that a reality.
While head coach Ben Johnson is always trying to improve his offense, any additions the Bears make seem likely to come on the defensive side. Chicago ranks 18th in pass defense, allowing 225.9 yards per game. The Bears could look to add a defensive back to the mix.
Or, the franchise can try to embolden their pass rush, getting to the quarterback before he throws the ball. While they rank tied for third in sacks with 19, four of them have come from cornerback Kyler Gordon. Extra pressure coming from the defensive line would be warmly welcomed in the Windy City.
The Bears are sure to have plenty of targets before the trade deadline. But one superstar is already being deemed off limits.
Chicago Bears, or any team, won’t trade for Maxx Crosby

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby was initially traded to the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason. But the Ravens decided to nix the deal due to the pass rusher’s medicals. Crosby reverted to the Raiders, where he has put up 18 tackles, 16 quarterback hits and two sacks through the first seven games of 2026.
With Crosby already having been dealt, and the Raiders losing their last four games, the pass rusher is sure to hear his name is trade rumors once again. But this time around, Las Vegas seems unlikely to make a deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show.
“The issue there is that he means so much to that franchise,” Schefter said. “He was the one forcing the issue in the offseason, he was the one that wanted to be traded. Initially the Raiders balked, and then they found two [first-round picks]. I just don’t think they’re getting that back now.”
“Maybe it just makes sense to hold onto him,” he continued. “If they can find a way to win the [New York] Jets game on Sunday, they’re 4-4. You don’t want to sell off the heart and soul of your team, the face of your franchise. I don’t know that anybody would give enough to make it happen.”

In the NFL, things can change in a hurry. Perhaps the Bears or another team make the Raiders an offer they can’t refuse. There aren’t many players who bring what the five-time Pro Bowler does to the gridiron.
But as the trade deadline looms, any trade rumors between Crosby and Chicago should be taken with a grain of salt.
