Paige Bueckers had words for Sky star DiJonai Carrington
On April 12, DiJonai Carrington signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Sky but expected to miss the majority of the campaign. She dealt with a left foot sprain that she sustained in the 2024 playoffs. The veteran guard made her season debut on Thursday against the Connecticut Sun and no longer appeared hampered by it. The home crowd, along with her fellow WNBA players on social media, including Paige Bueckers, welcomed her warmly.
She recorded nine points and three rebounds in 19 minutes. Carrington’s return provides Chicago with more backcourt depth. The 28-year-old is also versatile, with the ability to play at shooting guard and small forward, and could serve as an additional playmaker.
Carrington split the 2025 season between the Dallas Wings and Minnesota Lynx. However, she became an unrestricted free agent after the campaign and decided to take her talents to the Sky.

Carrington posted a carousel of photos on Instagram, featuring her from different moments during the Sun game. Some snaps were taken inside the gym as she worked on her strength and conditioning ahead of her first matchup of the year.

The duo played together with the Wings and formed a strong bond. While their partnership didn’t last long, they remain friends and express support for each other.
Carrington’s on-court presence has worked wonders for Chicago, winning back-to-back games and pushing its record to 11-18. The New Liberty sit at 17-13 and continue to hold the No. 8 seed; however, the regular season is far from over. If Carrington and Co. can string more wins together, they can apply a lot of pressure on the teams above them. The road ahead is not easy, but making the playoffs is not impossible, especially with a healthy lineup.
