Bears QB Caleb Williams had no words for unfortunate news
The Chicago Bears received unfortunate news on Friday as legendary player and head coach Mike Ditka passed away. The NFL announced it on social media, with many former and current players reposting it, including Caleb Williams.
Ditka played in the league from 1961 to 1972. He suited up for the Bears from 1961 to 1966 and won Rookie of the Year honors. The Pittsburgh Panthers product also became an NFL champion with the franchise and earned five Pro Bowl nods in his career.
He returned to Chicago as a head coach from 1982 to 1992, leading the team in winning the 1986 Super Bowl. Ditka is widely considered one of the most iconic players and coaches in NFL history, achieving success with both roles and had his best runs with the Bears.

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams reposts Mike Ditka development
Williams shared the NFL’s graphic about Ditka’s death on his Instagram story. The star quarterback did not add any caption to it.
“The NFL is deeply saddened by the passing of Hall of Fame coach and tight end, Mike Ditka,” the NFL wrote. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

The Bears will return to action on Sunday for a rivalry showdown with the Green Bay Packers. Williams remains sidelined due to the hamstring injury he sustained in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings. The good news is the team has found a way to win back-to-back games without him, as his backups have shined. Chicago named Tyson Bagent its QB1 for the Week 1 matchup.
The Bears are coming off an NFC North win last season with an 11-6 record. They also reached the Divisional Round but lost 20-17 in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams. Williams and Co. are hungrier this year and are looking to surpass their 2025 achievements.
