Kelsey Mitchell gets stern Caitlin Clark reminder ahead of WNBA free agency
OKelsey Mitchell’s unrestricted free agency continues to dominate WNBA headlines. The Indiana Fever star guard is arguably the biggest name available in the open market and will not lack suitors around the league. However, she received a stern reminder from Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams about her partnership with Caitlin Clark.
Mitchell broke several league records this season. She set new marks for most consecutive regular-season game with 20-plus points and the single-season scoring record. The 30-year-old also finished second in points per game while helping the Fever to a 28-16 record. They faced the Las Vegas Aces and forced a Game 3 in the first-round series. However, the team failed to advance to the next round after losing 94-83 on Oct. 1.
Meanwhile, Williams and the Lynx clinched the No. 1 seed but were swept by the New York Liberty. It was the first time in league history that the top team was upset by the No. 8-seeded team.

Indiana Fever: Courtney Williams issues reminder to Kelsey Mitchell about chemistry with Caitlin Clark
Williams highlighted the chemistry Mitchell and Clark have formed. She added that the four-time All-Star benefitted from playing alongside the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
“I see what everybody’s saying or whatever, but I’m gonna keep it a b****,” Williams said. “One of her best years (was when) Caitlin Clark got there. I’m not saying she’s not a great player, because I think she’s going to be who she gonna be wherever she go. But I’m just saying, when you find that type of chemistry with a player, y’all around here looking like they had a season where they was the best backcourt duo in WNBA history.
“I feel like when you find that type of chemistry, I get that it come with a lot of s***. Obviously, the Indiana fan base and all the odds that came to Clark get. I understand all of that. But I’m just saying, s***, basketball-wise, you had some of your best years, them folks over there giving you a bag, y’all damn near over there franchised together.”
“She had one of her best years once Caitlin Clark got there” Courtney keeping it real. And no we ain’t saying she’s ass or not a great player. She is but they benefited from eachothers gravity. https://t.co/HfSEc3Uy35

Mitchell has proven that she can be a plug-and-play type of player and can thrive quickly in a new system. However, what she and Clark have forged can’t be overlooked. Indiana general manager Amber Cox said that re-signing the former Ohio State star is a “major priority,” and that the franchise will do its best to re-sign her.
