Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

Sophie Cunningham snapped out of a slump on Tuesday and helped the Indiana Fever get back on track. The veteran guard delivered a solid performance off the bench, backing Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell’s big games. She also revealed her new NFL nickname on X on Wednesday.

Cunningham finished with 11 points along with two rebounds and two assists. She shot 4-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc in the 96-77 victory over the Minnesota Lynx. It was just what the team needed after losing to the Washington Mystics two days earlier. Clark produced a game-high 27 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, while Mitchell added 20 points three rebounds and four assists. Aliyah Boston added 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Lynx, on the other hand, were led by Chloe Bibby’s 15 points. Liatu King and Aari McDonald combined for 22 points six rebounds and seven assists. No Minnesota starter scored in double digits and the team played without rookie phenom Olivia Miles.

Indiana Fever: Sophie Cunningham shares NFL nickname after win over Lynx

Cunningham reposted the Fever’s video on X. It showed her signing a team’s fan merch similar to a baseball before throwing it to fans. The ball reached the second deck, and the 30-year-old added her NFL nickname in the caption.

“call me Patrick Mahomes from here on out,” Cunningham wrote.

She and her teammates will be back in action on Thursday for their last regular-season game. They will once again face the Lynx when they visit Target Center. The result of their matchup, along with other games on the same day, will determine their final seeding for the playoffs. Indiana is currently fifth in the standings with a 28-15 record. Cunningham and. Co. have won three of their last four games and nine out of 12 assignments.
