Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (18) and Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze (15) sit on the bench prior to the game against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has received a lot of praise for his maturity and leadership. He has showcased it throughout last season and this campaign, including last Thursday against the New England Patriots. Microphones captured what he told Rome Odunze after his second-quarter error as he motivated his teammate.

Williams completed 22-of-33 passes for 308 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He he proven that he has fully recovered from the hamstring injury that forced him to miss three games. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner has recorded back-to-back 300-plus passing yards, leading Chicago to consecutive victories.

Odunze, on the other hand, registered four receptions on five targets for 69 yards in the 30-24 win. The veteran wide receiver is a big part of the offense and is playing a key role for the team. He has 24 catches for 381 yards so far this year.

Bears QB Caleb Williams sends message to Rome Odunze on the bench

Williams gave an inspiring message to Odunze while they were on the bench in the fourth quarter. It came after the wideout was penalized for an offensive pass interference call.

“It’s all it is focus,” Williams said. “I’m going to put it up and out there. They’re going to hold you. Be strong. Go up and get it. If we don’t get it, we’re going to get the P.I. I’ll put it in a good spot for you.”

Odunze responded with an important reception on third down and allowed the Bears to continue their drive. He also secured the football after the Patriots’ onside kick which essentially sealed the victory.

Chicago will continue to rely on Williams and Odunze’s connection this season. The team entered the campaign hungrier after winning the NFC North and reaching the Divisional Round last year. The Bears’ next game is on Nov. 2 on “Monday Night Football” versus the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks.
